My journal is semi-friends only because my fics are usually cross-posted to communities, so they're open for everyone to view, as are things like celebrity picspams, and as of recently, tv recaps.

If you'd like to friend me and vice versa, then please comment here! Let me know who you are, how you found my journal, if we know each other, etc. I don't want to add randoms, or have randoms add me, just for the sake of it.

OMFG IT WAS AWESOME! This season in general has been amazing, really picking up the pace as it progressed, and it was all leading towards Maryanne's final showdown with Sam - it didn't disappoint.

Totally, TOTALLY belated, but despite the fact I watched the episode very early on Friday morning, I've been fairly busy over the past few days and only found the time now to write something up! Which is a travesty, considering how excited I was for this, but never mind. Onwards to the epic squee!

let me apologise in advance for how long this is )

*sigh of relief* Man, I am glad this show is back.

So yeah, did I mention I met Joe Armstrong today? ;-) I still haven't gotten over it, and I don't think I ever will, this has fairly made my LIFE! Settle in and I'll begin the ramble of how it all happened...

Basically, my 15-year-old sister (who is also a Robin Hood fan and loves him) found out about how Joe was doing that play in Edinburgh for the Fringe, and she begged me to take her to see it - as you all know, I'd already seen it once but I wasn't about to pass-up the opportunity to see him in the flesh again, so I bought us tickets for the show this morning. She was determined to try and meet him so our plan was to kinda hang about the building afterwards in the hope of spotting him, but never in a million years did I think our creepish loitering would work!! XD After the play had finished, we went to the toilets first, which killed some time, then hung about downstairs in the cafe/bar area, which is just outside the theater we had been in, thinking he might come through there. It was really busy though, and I had a feeling there must be some other "behind-the-curtains", backstage way for performers/staff to get upstairs and outside, so because we didn't want to miss him maybe leaving another way and not knowing about it, we figured we'd go just outside the entrance and just wait there for a bit.

We were standing by a pillar right in front of the main door, facing each other, when my sister's face just dropped, and she went stock-still and said something. At first I didn't notice, but then I caught sight of her expression and saw she was whispering something I couldn't quite make out, so I asked her what was up and she replied, uber-quietly, "he's behind you". I was like "the hell he is", because I figured she was just pulling my leg, but she then frantically insisted "no, seriously, he's on the phone and he's RIGHT behind that pillar!" She was deadly serious so heart-in-my-chest, I kinda moved to the side and had a sly peek around the aforementioned pillar, only to SEE HIM STANDING RIGHT THERE!!! NO MORE THAN TWO METERS AWAY FROM ME!

My eyes widened and I only had time enough to think "HOLYSHIT!" before fairly diving back around the pillar, out of sight and to figure out what the hell to do. We thought we'd ask for him to sign our tickets, so we got them out, and even had a pen in hand, ready to go (XD), and then basically had the most agonising wait EVER while he finished up his phone call and talked to a couple of other women standing outside, to the left of us (one of whom, I only realised at that moment, was the female star of the play *headslap*). He literally only talked to them for about a minute or two, though, before he started to head back indoors. My sister was closer so I nudged her and went "go, go, catch him!" to which the big chicken replied "no way, I'm not gonna do it!" All the while, he's getting farther away and I could just see the opportunity slipping away in front of me, seriously, I was like "it's now or never", so I basically bounded after him, jogging a little to catch-up, and then when I was close enough, I kinda stuttered "excuse me, Joe?"

WARNING: Excessive Fangirl Squee Ahead

HE STOPPED AND TURNED AROUND AND LOOKED RIGHT AT ME!!!! *dies on the spot* OMG, HIS EYES. They were the most gorgeous, blue eyes I'd ever seen, like sparkling, clear pools. TV's got NOTHING on those baby blues, for real. THEY WERE SO BEAUTIFUL. Never mind just his eyes, his entire lovely face. GAAAH!!! I literally froze in my tracks and he replied "yeah?", just looking at me questioningly. I...could not think a coherent thought. I pretty much started trembling straightaway, I was so nervous I was shaking, but luckily when I talk, I use my hands quite animatedly, so I'm hoping he didn't notice that. Unless my voice was trembly, which I think it was, but oh well. I think I said something like "I'm sorry to bug you but I just wanted to say, I just watched you in the play and I think you were awesome!" but in my mind it came out "aahkhafkshfskldhgkdshgkldshf;jADJLALJFVLKSHG!!!" He grinned (sidenote: *DIES AGAIN*), and I explained that I was actually a fan of his through RH, so as soon as I found out he was doing a show up here, I figured it was a must-see.

My sister had caught up by this point, so he said hello to her and then we kinda chatted briefly about the play, his being up here, why he took the role, and so forth. I mentioned that I'd seen it twice, which prompted him to ask if it had been any different the 2nd time round. I told him that I'd actually been on the look-out for any differences, but it was pretty much the same, only slight nuances here and there, very minor details. I'd actually noticed his male co-star had accidentally messed up a line but I didn't want to say that because hello, RUDE. He seemed pleased to hear that I'd enjoyed both performances, though, HE HAD SUCH A CUTE WEE SMILE!!! *flails*

We then asked him if he'd sign our tickets and he was like "of course, yeah", and went over to sit at a table where he had something to lean on. He signed my sister's first and it was hilarious because for some reason, he had a real problem writing - I don't know if it was because he was still keyed-up from the performance but it was just a bit awkward, and adorably enough, he just kept apologising and being like "God, my writing is crap, sorry", to which my sister was like "WTF, WHO GIVES A SHIT, WRITE LIKE A 5-YEAR-OLD AND I'D STILL LOVE IT!" So she didn't say that in as many words, but I could tell that's what she was thinking ;-). He went over her name like 4 times, XD. And then, I don't know what came over me, but while he was signing, I pulled up the chair next to him, sat down, then proceeded to ramble about how gutted and annoyed I was at Allan's death on RH (Bestie, I told you I wouldn't be able to resist! XD). It was cool though, we had a little chat about the show, which was interesting because I found out some intriguing info - INSIDER'S SCOOP!!! *clutches it to chest and runs away* He was a lot more open certain things than I thought he'd be.

When I said they'd effectively killed off the best character, he did this modest "pssh, you-don't-really-mean-that" kind of noise and headshake, but I was adamant, and I couldn't let it go without explaining how awesome I really thought Allan was. So I just said "no, seriously, he's been my favourite since S1, and I think he's the best because he's the easiest to empathise with. He sees things in gray, rather than just black-and-white, he makes mistakes, he's flawed, but he's also human and tries to fix them. He was an amazing character and that was down to you", and he just looked so taken-aback and humbled, bless his wee face!! *squishes it* I don't think he expected that much enthusiasm, but dammit, I can't contain the squee when talking about one of my favourite characters XD. ESPECIALLY TO THE FREAKING GUY WHO PLAYS HIM!!!

Anyway, we all kinda stood up then, and I'm pretty sure he was going to go see a show (he'd talked briefly about it with the women from outside when they'd come back into the theater and passed us), so we said our goodbyes there - he was all like "it was really nice to meet you", and he SHOOK OUR HANDS. I ACTUALLY TOUCHED HIM!!!! I kinda never want to wash this hand again XD. I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wanted a picture, but he'd freaking talked to us for about 10-15 minutes and I didn't want to hold him back any longer, or push my luck, so I didn't ask. I felt bad about taking up that much time as it was, so unfortunately, no photos! :-( Which I'm a bit gutted about but fuck it, it's the experience and memory that counts. I've got a signed ticket anyway, plus I'll always have the story :-D. I ACTUALLY MET HIM. AND TALKED TO HIM. IN REAL LIFE!!!

It was completely surreal, and I still can't believe I met him - I keep having random bursts of squee and sheer excitement whenever I remember - but OMG, it was just AMAZING. The whole time I was talking to him, I couldn't believe that it was actually HIM, and he was having a conversation with me, but GAH!!! IT WAS AND HE DID!! He was every bit as gorgeous in person as he looks on TV, and he was just SO laidback and lovely. Just a dream, basically. I am even more in love! ♥ ♥ ♥

before i forget, a picture of my signed ticket! )

It's my master's birthday today, and as a faithful minion, I'm posting a small picspam to celebrate. I actually cannot describe how much I love this guy - I had no idea I would, when I first saw him onscreen in Lazarus Rising way back when, but the impact he's had on the show and the fandom is just immense, and I just love how seamlessly he's fitted into both. Plus his crazy yet dry and hilarious sense of humour, and his lovely face are just more reasons for me to adore him XD. I just love him to pieces! ♥

I just realised that considering how much I fucking LOVE True Blood, I don't squee enough about it - I will amend this, but right now I just finished watching the latest episode and I have to get something out. I cannot believe this just happened...

Why did they have to be so cruel?! )

I just realised also that like S1, S2 is only 12 episodes, and that we're really close to the end, so I'll actually be back later to squee about the latest episode, and the season on the whole. Such a brilliant show, honestly! ♥

I've been catching up with all my various "current" shows I was still behind on from the past few months, and I finally finished the other day!! So now I can actually get on with my list and watch a few new things, hopefully. Anyway, I had many thoughts tumbling about my head so I figured I'd squee/rant/flail/whatever about the shows here. They won't be reviews as such, but general ramble-y opinions.

I think it's safe to assume there will be spoilers.

Chuck

This was my biggest obstacle, only in the sense that I had 6 episodes to watch and it was the last show I got round to. But I basically sat down and power-watched them all in one go on Sunday, and OMFG, I can't believe it took me this long to get through them!!!

I'm so happy the show is coming back for a new season! )

Dollhouse

This one did just get better and better throughout the season, and wow, the ending blew my mind.

the finale episodes were the best of the season )

Glee

I downloaded this on the recommendation of a few people, but I didn’t really know what to expect...I have to say, I’m intrigued and entertained enough to keep watching the show when it starts airing properly.

as long as it doesn’t turn into a copy of High School Musical, it’ll be okay )

Harper’s Island

I know when I first posted about this with Southland and The Unusuals, I said it was my least favourite out of the new shows, but it quickly grew on me. I’m sad it’s over, but it had an awesome run!

one by one... )

Southland

Like I said when I first started watching this, I’m not too big on cop dramas in general, but I really enjoyed this one.

where do we go from here? )

The Unusuals

This was possibly too unusual for some people’s tastes, but entertaining for me all the same, and I’m still really sad it was cancelled. It was a lot of fun.

it was nice while it lasted )

Wow, that was stupidly long, but I think I'm done! Now I can finally get on with watching new stuff :-D.

Warning: squeeing, flailing, nonsense and much freaking out ahead...

I'll admit, I was pretty much against the whole "third Winchester brother" thing ever since stupid BuddyTV spoiled me about it - when I say against it, I mean I really hated the idea, it just seemed so wrong. And I was hoping against hope that it wouldn't last, but even I have to admit that the way the last episode ended and how they tied up that whole storyline was kinda heartbreaking, no more so than for Dean and Sam. I totally didn't see it coming! I think that makes me slower than most people. Anyway, rambly/bitty thoughts on the latest episode.

I'm bummed that I missed this and didn't post yesterday, but as belated as it is, happy birthday to Jeffrey Dean Morgan! Random, but I just realised he and Laura share birthdays, that's totally awesome :-D

Anyway, just a small collection of some of my favourite pictures of him under the cut, to celebrate the hotness! Because he is so very yummy. And adorable, and sweet, and funny, and guh, just loveable! I have a bit of an epic love for him XD

Hehehehe! I cannot tell you how long that line has been giving me chills ever since I first saw the trailer, god knows how many months ago, and all of the times I watched it since then. I can't actually describe the feeling I got finally hearing it from the big-screen, but it was amazing. Watching the film for the first time, I was just in a constant sense of squee and awe all at the same time, I felt fit to burst! In short, Watchmen completely lived up to my expectations, and I freaking LOVED it.

Warning: this post will contain excessive amounts of squeeing and fangirlism. And minor spoilers, (if you haven't read the book), under the cut.

You can tell this film was Zack Snyder's baby, and the effort he put into trying to keep the movie as close to the graphic novel as possible is just immense, because so many shots had been lifted exactly from the panels and pages of the book. And considering how complicated some of them are, that was freaking awesome. It was just like 300 where it felt like I was watching pages on-screen, I loved it. Combine that with his crazy-angle shots, the bright, vivid colours and the special effects (especially the slow-motion fight scenes), and it makes the entire thing just a FEAST for your eyes!! It was graphic, stylistic and just visually stunning, seriously. A lot of the time I was just sat there with eyes wide and mouth dropped open.

The storyline was pretty much exactly the same as the graphic novel too, again I was impressed with how closely Zack managed to follow it. Even though he had to cut masses out (because it's a bloody long graphic novel!), the overall arc was the same, and for fans of the book, there's references to the things he couldn't include throughout the entire film. So that was a lot of fun! And even though he changed the big aspect of how things happen in the end, it actually made a lot of sense to me, and I think it makes more sense in the film, and in general.

spoiler one )

The cast was all awesome too, I thought they were each perfectly-suited for their roles, honestly. Billy Crudup played Dr. Manhattan exactly how I'd imagined him to be in the book, how he carried himself and the way he talked, and Patrick Wilson was so great as the Nite Owl! Dan is a bit of a nerd but then when he's in costume, he's focused, strong and just kickass, and he caught the balance between and portrayed all of that really well. Rorschach is just so badass, it hurts. And JEFFREY DEAN MORGAN!!!! Oh my God, his character is a total dick with seriously questionable morals but I liked him anyway! XD And it's all because of Jeff! ♥ I just loved them all, Rorschach was my favourite from the graphic novel, but I'm fairly torn for the film!

Oh yeah, it was unexpectedly gory. I was left cringing and mentally going "eewww!!!" at a lot of the injuries inflicted on the good and bad guys alike, but then with an 18 rating, I don't know what else I expected!

And the soundtrack was great! I had no idea that Tyler Bates (who did the score for 300) also did the music for this until his name popped up, but it was awesome. And there was also an entirely different soundtrack where they used songs from the era over certain scenes, and they were just well-suited and fun. In particular, there was a really pretty Simon and Garfunkel song used that instantly made me think of [info]blackbirdj2 when I heard it :-P

Honestly, I ADORED it!!! Like I said, it completely lived up to my expectations which makes me so happy because I've been looking forward to this for months and if it'd been even a bit crap, I'd have been so gutted. But it was just immense! I need to go see it again as soon as, because once is definitely not enough. It's epic genius.

Who's watching the Watchmen? I AM! ♥

I was shocked and saddened last night by hearing the news that, after a long battle with lung cancer, Kim Manners had passed away.

For those of you who don't know, Kim was an executive producer and director, and while I only knew of him through Supernatural, I loved and admired him for his work there. He was also one of the main influences in making The X-Files as visually compelling as it was, and has countless other credits to his name. The world of TV has lost a brilliant talent, and my heart goes out to Kim's family, and his family on SPN. You'll be hugely missed :-(

I can't do art and I'm not that great with words, so I prepared a small picture tribute for him, with caps from all the episodes he directed (and of some of my favourite moments), to showcase his skills.

Be warned, there'll be mainly squeeing and rambles ahead, haha. Also, for people who haven't seen the movie yet but are planning to, spoilers are under the cut. And I fully recommend you watch it spoiler-free, you'll get the most out of the experience that way.

So yeah, after an excruciating wait, I finally saw this yesterday, and to put it simply, it. Was. AWESOME!!! I'm actually shocked by how much I enjoyed it considering it's a horror film (and you all know how I don't take horror that well), but seriously, I had such a blast watching this movie, and I really loved it! But then it had Jensen in it so how much of that is a surprise, really? XD Let's face it, I was always gonna love it on some level, haha.

I have to talk about this first and get the shallow stuff out the way, but Jensen in 3D? OH. MY. GAWD *thuds on floor* There are no words. I think I died about a hundred times over, just from seeing him on screen! SO. MUCH. PRETTY! *flails* He pretty much made me forget all the reasons I was nervous in the first place. Honestly, best cinema experience EVER.

That aside, his performance was brilliant, too. Speaking as a total Dean fanatic, and seeing Jensen mainly as Dean Winchester, it's safe to say that I saw absolutely none of Dean in Tom, which just made me cheer inside because it proves how freaking awesome Jensen is at acting and separating each of his roles from the other. I'll admit, I almost didn't know what to expect, and I did think that since I was so used to Dean, I would mainly see him, even though it was a different character, but I didn't at all! It was in the way Tom looked softly at Sarah when he talked to her, how furious he got at the town's miners blaming him for what happened, how cocksure he was with the Sheriff, his vulnerability...sheesh - Jensen completely made this character his own and sold it. WOW!!!

spoiler one )

As for the film itself, totally awesome. Jaime King annoyed me a little, but Kerr's performance was great, and combined with Jensen's, it totally made up for it. And yeah the movie is a bit cheesy and makes you laugh-out-loud at some points, but it's meant to, it's completely a throwback to ye olde slasher flicks, and it ticked every box it was supposed to - gory deaths, suspense and jumpy bits, sex/nudity :-P Though thankfully, apart from the one scene, that wasn't too gratuitous. And you'll love trying to work out who the killer is. Seriously, it was just FAWESOME, and honestly, I had a huge grin on my face when the credits rolled. Definitely not the reaction I thought I'd have, because I thought I'd be traumatised for life from the horror in 3D, but it was that much fun, and JENSEN WAS THAT DAMN AMAZING, that I couldn't resist. FRUCKING. BRILLIANT!

spoiler two )

I wanna go see it again :-D
